Searchlight was created in 1998 to fill a gap in the market – for a recruitment consultancy with specialist knowledge of the broadcast, media & entertainment sectors.

Since then, our focus on these sectors has never waivered, and our passion for the business remains - probably because that’s where our management team and all our consultants started their careers

Searchlight now has two divisions: Searchlight Recruitment, (which focuses on entry level to middle management positions), and Searchlight Executive (which handles Senior and Executive searches).

Cathy Alford is Searchlight’s Managing Director, although she remains ‘hands on’, working on selected senior level searches.

Cathy has a background in copywriting, editing and corporate production. In 1995, she joined the BBC as Post Production Manager for BBC Resources and rose to become Factual Business Manager for BBC Broadcast, working alongside the controllers of BBC1 & BBC2.
